A-Z Blogging Challenge - What Was I Thinking?

Why would someone in the middle of a major writing slump take on a writing challenge?   Good question, but I never claimed to be the brightest crayon in the box.

In my blogging travels this morning, I ran across a writing challenge that piqued my interest.  I clicked further to read about the A to Z Blogging Challenge and before I knew it, I had tossed  my name - er, blog - into the ring with more than 500 other bloggers.

The challenge starts April 1, 2011 and the idea is to write a blog post every day except Sunday, making the topic of the post be something that starts with the corresponding letter of the alphabet.  Four Sundays in April this year allow for each of the remaining 26 days to line up with each letter from A to Z.

A challenge can be a good way to maintain accountability, but I did cheat just a bit.  I knew I wouldn't be able to come up with posts for every letter of the alphabet that would be suitable for this blog, so I signed up with one of my other blogs - Marie Anne's Missives.  MAMs is an eclectic mix of whatever strikes my fancy at the moment, so while it will still be a challenge to blog every day, it will be a bit easier to come up with posts ranging from Avocados to Zebras over there than on a blog that focuses on writing.

I  know the challenge won't be easy, but I also expect it'll be fun and I'm sure to meet some great bloggers along the way.  Care to join me?

P.S.  I changed my mind and signed up with all four of my blogs, but won't be posting on each of them every day.  I'll make a daily post for every letter of the alphabet on at least one of them, and will probably do more than one on some days.  My other blogs are listed in the left sidebar (More From Marie Anne).

  3. Well, as added incentive to keep up with my blog (I hope), I've also accepted the A-Z Challenge. Wish me luck as I do you.

Also, how do you change the background in your blog? I love yours, but wouldn't know where to put the codes to do it.

  4. It's crazy but why not!

If we are to succeed, sometimes we need challenges to help us to meet schedules and to write more articles than we otherwise would.

These challenges also help us to meet other bloggers, to get more links to our blogs, and to find more blogging ideas.

I'm not 100% sure about Blogger, but I know with Wordpress you can set the publication date, therefore you can blog ahead (ie: begin now) and each post will automagically appear on your blog on the appropriate date.

  12. There was no way I could rise to this challenge. So many times I'm without Internet (as I was for several days this past week), but I appreciate a good challenge, and I hope you were able to accomplish your goals.

  13. Hi again. I think my link needs fixing. It goes to a specific post instead of the home page. It should be http://scentedweddings.com Thanks!

  14. Ok, I am going to push myself to come up with the A-Z of Montessori education on MontessoriWriter.com. But just in case, I think I better sign up with two of my other ones, as well. So, MontessoriWritersThoughts.blogspot.com and AndisGardeningExperiments.blogspot.com will also go on the list.

Thanks for the info and inspiration!

  23. Hi Marie Anne, JC From YCN. I just want to thank you for posting this on YCN. Suffice it to say that I have spent $200 on a site/blog I purchased last year and to date, have done nothing with it. This is just the motivation I need to start something. Well, this and the way YCN is changing so much... AC is dead and gone, but that doesn't mean we have to be as writers, right? You have just gained another loyal subscriber!

    Thanks again!
