Value, Volume and Verbosity Visit for V-day

When writing, do you think of the value of your words to your reader?  If someone is clicking to read your blog or article, are you giving them something in return for their effort, or are you just filling a page to meet a word-count?

When blogging, it's important to post on a regular basis to provide fresh content for the search engines to crawl, and each post should be at least a few hundred words.  Volume and verbosity alone, however, aren't worth much.

If you want your readers to spend some time on your site, give them something to capture their attention, that which will encourage them to read further.  Don't write a page full of junk expecting the keywords to do the work for you.  The latter might initially bring you hits based on SEO (and with google's algorithm changes, might not), but without something worthwhile to hold them there, your readers may click away within seconds and certainly won't come back for more.

Have your words speak volumes rather than merely fill volumes.

  3. I agree with you. I try to share a piece of my heart, and some of my experiences but sometimes I wonder if it is enough.

  4. Absolutely! There are a lot of really looooong blogs/articles out there that say pretty much nothing.

  5. Great advice. I'm kind of glad that Google changed its algorithms. I was never very good at remembering to use all those SEO and Keyword tips. Find me here: http://myheartblogstoyou.blogspot.com/

  7. Very true. No one can write a fab post every single time, but it's apparent that a few blogs (fortunately I've run across very few) are just regurgitating entertainment news or recipes and such and aiming for views only. That's OK IF the writer offers their own fresh insights and commentary. Giveaways on blogs are also nice but not if they are flogging free stuff and contests multiple times a day, as well as begging for new followers. That drives me nuts and clogs my queue. (Then there are people like me who write long rambling comments...sorry!) :)

  8. I try to make sure that the words I use, either in my blog or in my writing, are words that push the story (blog) to the ending. I'm not into fluff. Nice to meet you!

  9. I try to comment on the actual posting to let the author know I've read it! The A-Z Challenge comments to my postings are being saved in a separate folder for answering in the next month; otherwise, I'd not be able to visit the folks doing the writing! I write long and short blogs, depending on topic.

Hello, fellow A-Z Challenger! Here's my latest entry. Come visit either of my blogs when you can and leave some comment love:
