So many of my blogging and freelancing friends and peers had fun with the A-Z Blogging Challenge that we decided to do one of our own on a much smaller scale for May. The twist is that we're going to do it backwards.
We'll start on May 2 with a post on the letter Z, and work our way back up to A on May 31 by posting on every day of the week except Sunday. Deducting the four Sundays from 31 days in May leaves us with 26 days to post on the 26 letters of the alphabet.
Many of us are freelance writers and know each other from sites we write for, but the challenge is open to anyone that wants to give it a go. If you're up for the challenge, look for you are next below and add the URL for the blog you want to enter.
The gauntlet has been thrown down simply to keep everyone motivated to post on their blogs more frequently, so there are no hard and fast rules, but a few suggestions. Since we're hoping that challenge participants will support each other by visiting and commenting, we recommend that you remove any captcha code requirements to make it easier for your readers to do so.
Wow - good for you! I'm going to head back down to four posts a week, but I'll be sure to travel around a bit from Z to A along your list. :)
ReplyDeleteJust not ready to give up the community spirit nor the daily habit of blogging. Thanks for this Marie Anne.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, MA...I want to participate but already know that May is going to be a crazy month. I'm still going to be promoting fellow writers but had hoped to move smoothly into snatching bits of Y!CN pieces. Hmmm...Maybe some more bloggers thrown in here in there and in the style of Z to A....Well, we'll just have to see.
ReplyDeleteLove the concept and the GREAT spirit with which this will continue :)
Sounds like fun, giving it some thought. Have a question though, I have 3 blogs and wonder how to add the blog I'm writing on for that particular letter?
ReplyDeleteThanks, let me know if you have a thought on that. Additionally, I'm, not well versed on linky's and have added one very recently to one of my blogs. Someone listed themselves but didn't participate in any of it and in fact it's just a promo thing for her blog. Is there a way I can delete her link? Thought since you were doing this, you might know better how these work.

I would love to join in, April's challenge has been fun and very useful too. I need to focus on other areas however - I have a gift store site to get up and running, as well as other tasks. Good Luck everyone, I will of course do my best to read your entries.
ReplyDeleteI want to participate since I would like to revive my aromatherapy blog. I'm doubting that I can come up with an aromatherapy topic for each letter of the alphabet though. I'll join if I can brainstorm enough topics.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to this one. I felt like the A to Z challenge list was so great to start with but midway lost of lot of writers so it was hard to find posts on every blog listed. I ended up bouncing back to the same few every few days because I knew I would find something fun there (like here!).
ReplyDeleteI think only more serious contenders will sign up here. For myself, I will work towards not getting multiple days behind on this one like I did during Easter week for April.
I think I will do like Tracey and brainstorm some topics prior to launch so I will always be ahead.
Thanks for the idea!
I've been spreading the word in some of my marketing/ book groups too, so we may see some new faces too.
ReplyDeleteThanks again MA and all. This has been a great motivator for me.
You know what? I am up for the next challenge, it was so much fun to do the April one, so why not? Here we go :)
ReplyDeleteNever done one of these. How hard can it be?
ReplyDelete(Cue gales of laughter.)
Seriously, I'm looking forward to reading some great posts. Good luck everyone!
Well, I decided to throw my hat into the ring after all. It'll keep me regular on my food blog.
ReplyDeleteJust added another one :) Doing three next month :)
ReplyDeleteSign me up, too -- I added the code to my blog.
ReplyDeleteMother Morgan, May I?

I'm going to promote this on my FB page, Marie Anne -- I have some non-YCN friends who blog who may want to participate. Is that ok?
ReplyDeleteMay this is just what I need to get past this silly block of mine.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marie Anne!
Sounds like just what I need to give me a purpose; however, I can't promise I'll keep up with the days since I've found some other post commitments. If worse comes to worse, I won't worry about a letter hitting the month of June. I just wish I'd known about this great idea sooner, so I could plan for it.

Wow, am amazed that many people signed up for the Z to A challenge. 42 blogs thus far! Impressive.
ReplyDeleteSandy
All signed up, since I missed out on A to Z I couldn't pass this one up! I'm posting at www.relativelyroutine.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI just signed up my aromatherapy blog. I'm not sure I'll have a Z post today since I have yet to think of a Z topic but I have about half the topics already written down.
ReplyDeleteMarie, you've convinced me! Also, the link you use in the HTML code for the image does not bring me to this page. You'll need to fix it with the correct link!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to see both familiar faces and some new ones! :O)
ReplyDeleteWhy are you removing the links/list. I'm not sure how we're suppose to visit each other without the list. Am I missing something?
ReplyDeleteThanks for th great idea. Looking forward to this!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I cant wait to see what people come up with!

Looks like lots of us have more then one blog and are spreading the z-a challenge around. I've hit some that have recent posts, and others still doing a-z I think.
ReplyDeleteFun to see so many different blogs. With that in mind though, hitting blogs that haven't been updated since fall of last year seems maybe not in the spirit of things? When I hit a blog that old, I feel like I've wasted my time. Wondering how others feel.
Well, I've made my first full run through all 68 blogs listed (though some are not blogs but webpages), and left probably 64 comments...not all today. lol
ReplyDeleteOn target with z-a and have a few posts scheduled, next one to write is O.
Hope everyone is enjoying themselves, and look forward to more blog visits.
Working my way through the list now a 2nd time. Almost half way through, disappointing to see so few blogs updated.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with this! I did A-Z in April, so I'm not about to go back through the alphabet at this point. Plus, I'd be a little too late now.
ReplyDeleteMade my way through the entire list yet a 2nd time, but would like to suggest 52-53-53-56-57 and 68 be removed. There are others, but I didn't start writing them down until half way through. Some aren't blogs, but static webpages, signed on to get link but clearly not participating, others are blogs that haven't been updated, several indicate in their post, they won't be posting anymore. Really seems inappropriate for us to take time to visit their blogs/webpages
ReplyDeleteCurious if anyone knows how many bloggers actually met the challenge?
ReplyDeleteI would like to take part in the challenge. May have to double up a couple of days since I am moving on the 9th, but this sounds fun!
ReplyDeletewww.bennettsbriefings.com is where I will blog. Also, can't find the code snippet on left? Can you paste it here in comments?
ReplyDeleteHeather, look at the date of the blog post. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I noticed that. Felt kind of bummed. Do you know of anyone else doing a May challenge?
DeleteWow. Okay. I see this is from 2011, but I am still doing this!
